…AND A FEW MORE FOR GOOD MEASURE

A FEW NEW PROJECTS COURTESY OF 826 VALENCIA.

The LOVE is not new, but a few PROJECTS are. TWO new CHAPBOOKS DESIGNED and ILLUSTRATED from the COVERS, IN. A few EVENT PHOTOGRAPHS have been featured on the 826 VALENCIA WEB-SITE, as well as a very GENEROUS VOLUNTEER PROFILE. The LATEST PROJECT is a STATIONERY RE-DESIGN PROGRAM in line with a soft RE-BRANDING. THANKS, MARIA ET AL.

BOOK, BOOK, BOOK–OOK

ANGST, AGIDA, and AGE–APPROPRIATE WORDS from WORKSHOPS at 826 VALENCIA. Kids write, SUBJECT-OBJECT SETS.

So the relationship with 826 VALENCIA GROWS stronger and stronger. The kids’ newspapers continue, but we can add BOOKS to the LIST of COLLABORATIONS with the now VENERABLE MISSION INSTITUTION. Expect a bumper crop of CHAPBOOKS born out of WORKSHOPS, CAMPS, and IN–SCHOOL PROJECTS with kids from 6 to 16. The material ranges from tempered first steps into WRITING, to angst–riddled SPOKEN WORD POETRY. The work involves ILLUSTRATION, TYPESETTING (YEAH!), and CREATING or RE–WORKING TEMPLATES. THANKS to ALL the GANG BEHIND the PIRATE SUPPLY STORE!

THINGS THAT NO LONGER DELIGHT ME

THINGS THAT NO LONGER DELIGHT ME, COVER PROPOSAL for a BOOK of POETRY by LESLIE CHANG and FORDHAM UNIVERSITY PRESS. (unused)

Sometimes projects don’t work out, but they can produce some HAPPY RESULTS. The tone and meaning of LESLIE CHANG’s correspondence and approach inspired the IMAGERY. Working through ideas of MEMORY, IMMIGRATION, TRADITION, FAMILY, and HISTORY led to this PROPOSAL, which calls upon the mystical potential of Chinese firecrackers. But given the widespread laws that make them contraband, a HOME-MADE, CRAFTIER SOLUTION was used. What RESULTED was something FUN, DRY, and STILL LITERARY. (One hopes! THANKS, LESLIE.)
